The Peace of Christ

Our Purpose

Hey Catholics is an online presence and platform for Catholics to meet and practice the Catholic faith. There are two streams, male and female. We are self-supporting through our online membership. Hey Catholics adheres to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and has no opinion on anything not referenced in the Catechism. Our hope is to share our Catholic beliefs, practices, scripture, and traditions so to become great Catholics (Disciples of Christ).

Peacemakers

“Our pilgrimage on earth cannot be exempt from trial. We progress by means of trial. No one knows himself except through trial, or receives a crown except after victory, or strives except against an enemy or temptations.” St. Augustine of Hippo (4th-5th centuries, Doctor of the Church & Patron Saint of Hey Catholics)

Our pilgrimage on earth today and its trials seem daunting. How fortunate are we to be Catholic and able to partake and learn from the Church’s sacraments, its wisdom, teachings, and traditions including from Saints like St. Augustine?

There is no reason for us Catholics to be alone in our efforts as we journey through life. Hey Catholics offers an opportunity for Catholics to meet and share God’s blessings. We can pray and learn together and become sound Catholics.  With the help of the Holy Spirit, we will come to know Jesus, be His disciples and He will set us free.

Along with the sacred tradition and  holy practices within Catholicism, there is Catholic Leadership

  • Hey Catholics recognizes there are faithful Catholic leaders and mentors all around us. Hey Catholics relies on the Catholic leadership for its success.
  • The platform is designed to connect Catholic leadership with other Catholics through video communication programs such as Zoom and Google Meet.
  • Catholic leaders are autonomous and responsible for their meetings. They create the meeting, set up the schedule and design their type of meeting. The leader has the freedom to structure meetings that suit their knowledge and interest (The leader is referred to as the Meeting Owner).
  • We are profoundly grateful for all those who will create a meeting and facilitate an online prayer group, study group, discussion group, etc.

We believe these types of powerful meetings will attract membership and provide a wealth of Catholic content and opportunities for others to participate, share and grow in their Catholic faith.

(In the beginning, the meetings may be quite sparse and small in size. It may take some time to attract participants – we ask for your patience and endurance)

Examples of online meetings

Prayer Groups

“For where two or more are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matt 18:20).

  • When we pray with others, we are strengthened in faith and blessed with God’s presence.
  • Thanks to Catholic tradition there is a treasure trove of devotional rituals and prayers such as novenas, litanies, the Holy Rosary, Lectio Divina, The Angelus, Stations of the Cross, etc. These communal prayers express our unity as one people of God, coming together as one family to dialogue with and to listen and praise God.
  • Any type of prayer or combination of prayers or devotions including intercessory prayers can be arranged into a format for a Zoom/Google Meet meeting.
  • Prayers and devotions combating spiritual warfare are probably the most needed within today’s family and culture.  Hey Catholics is designed to connect with other Catholics, join forces with God and enter the spiritual battle.

Study and/or Discussion Groups

There are many talented Catholic leaders and mentors among us. Hey Catholics success relies on the wisdom and efforts of the Catholic leadership.

Meeting Examples:

There are excellent Catholic resources and content on the internet – too numerous to mention.  Leaders could tap into these resources, to help facilitate their meeting. The combination of prayer, and reading out loud followed by a discussion is a terrific way to learn, retain information and give honor to our Lord.  At the same time we will meet and get to know other practicing Catholics.

  • Certain Catholic leaders may have scripture knowledge and have their own ideas and experience in hosting a bible study group.
  • The daily scripture readings and reflections on My Catholic Life website are remarkable and helpful. There are other good Catholic commentaries available as well.  Using powerful reflections followed by personal sharing constitutes a powerful meeting.
  • A book study meeting: Reading a chapter or passage from a Catholic-based book followed by a discussion is equally powerful.  These meetings can be a combination of prayer and book study meetings.
  • The book, The Spiritual Combat by Dom Lorenzo Scupoli is an example of a book study that can prepare us for Spiritual Warfare and help us combat the evil forces in our day-to-day lives.
  • A reading and study plan for the Catechism of the Catholic Church can help us become familiar and knowledgeable with the Catechism so to become better Catholics.
  • A Catholic Faith Formation program. The Knights of Columbus has an excellent course available for anyone who is interested: https://www.kofc.org/en/who-we-are/our-faith/cis/faith-formation.html
    • The Catholic Faith Formation program is usually done on one’s own time however a discussion group can be easily set up to share the content of the readings and for the purpose of accountability.
  • This list is just the start of the many possibilities and potential ways a meeting is formed while bringing Catholics together to share and grow in the Catholic faith.

The Hey Catholics team is here to help in any way we can. Please reach out at any time – every comment or question is important and we want to support you:  email  info@heycatholics.com
